Should you buy Indian or Chinese Interactive Panels
How do you select the best Interactive Display Panel for your classrooms, with the market flooded with so many manufacturers? And unless you look closely enough, they all seem to offer similar value proposition. Some of the prominent players in the market, include BenQ, Newline, Senses, Globus and iBoard. These are all prominent players in India and are quite competitive. While some of them are manufactured in India, some are not.
Who are these companies, where are they from, how will it impact your buying decision? Considering the way, the world that we live in has changed during this pandemic, this becomes an even more critical aspect to look at.
Most of the companies in the interactive panel market operating in India today, are not Indian companies. They are selling in our market through some distributors. Some of these companies do not even own or have control on the factories that assemble and produce these interactive panels. Most of them get these assembled through some or the other company in China. With the exception of Senses Electronics, which is an Indian company and have their own manufacturing facticity in Bhugaon, Pune.
With India’s EdTech Market predicted to be touching a CAGR of $1.96 billion and the tale of digitalisation that is now the flashing story, it is one of the best choices to prefer a product that is made in India.
- Enhanced customer support (as the market is budding). Indian companies today are far more competitive than we knew them to be
- Build Quality is comparatively stronger as they have greater quality control and are primed to compete with global players
- Support your own economy especially in the wake of COVID-19 scenario
How often do we get bemused by the flashy tech gadget we see in the market that comes from China – starting from led lights, to mobile phones, to any incomprehensible tech gadget. And how often do we see them wither away even before we completely learn how to use the product. And then we are stranded, as no one has a clue who is going to provide the support, can we replace the product, do we have any warranty on the product.
Sounds familiar? So, why such a situation would not be the norm for larger, expensive products. We would prefer buying from a company which is manufacturing their products in India, which has a wide network of after sales support, which provides best in class training support to use the products and most importantly be available whenever we call to ensure continuity of our classrooms.
So, when you sit through your decision in your board room, make sure you know exactly what company you are dealing with, check for references from their clientele, see if you would be making a wise choice. Check if they have authentic and valid certifications from Indian Quality auditors.
You would be surprised to note that many of these companies that claim that they are India based companies, cannot provide any documents or certifications backing their claim. There is a difference between just having a sales and distribution office vs having a manufacturing facility in India and testing the products as per Indian conditions.
Just generic testing may not be sufficient for Indian conditions. Senses provides the BIS certification that we receive from the Quality Control board in India, as we are the only company to have a manufacturing facility in our country. Only companies registered in India go through a rigorous quality inspection of their manufacturing facility. We also provide the ISO 9001 – 2005, and ISO 14001 certifications, should buyers want to see the same.
